Ivo Pogorelich is a Croatian pianist whose work centres on the interpretation of solo and concerto repertoire. Born in Belgrade in 1958, he trained there before moving to Moscow, where his studies included the Tchaikovsky Conservatory. His collaboration with the Georgian pianist and teacher Alisa Kezeradze began in 1976 and helped shape his approach to technique and musical expression. His repertoire extends from Bach to twentieth-century composers, with sustained attention to Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms, Ravel and Rachmaninoff. Alongside international concert appearances, he has made recordings for Deutsche Grammophon and Sony Classical, including a 2022 album devoted to late works by Chopin.
In the 2026–27 season, Pogorelich returns to a recital programme combining Bach’s English Suite No. 2, Ravel’s Valses nobles et sentimentales, Brahms’s Three Intermezzi, Op. 117, and Beethoven’s final piano sonata, Op. 111. His official schedule lists performances in Tallinn on 8 September 2026, Ljubljana on 10 September and Rovinj on 20 September, with a further presentation at the Philharmonie de Paris on 12 April 2027. The programme places Baroque dance forms beside Romantic miniatures, French waltzes and Beethoven’s two-movement sonata, offering contrasting approaches to the piano’s expressive range. These appearances continue a practice built around revisiting established works through individual interpretation.
