Martina Morger is a Liechtenstein-born multimedia artist based between Balzers and Hanover. Working through performance, video and spatial installation, they examine how care, desire and power become visible in public space. Morger often begins with ordinary gestures—cleaning, carrying, walking, planting or serving—and repeats them until overlooked forms of labour and social discipline come into view. Their projects connect the body to architecture, consumer display, rural life and institutional systems, using slowness, softness and tactile attention as critical tools. Morger studied media and cultural studies at the University of Zurich, media art in Zurich and Vienna, and completed an MFA at the Glasgow School of Art. They also co-direct Perrrformat, which presents performance art in public space.
In 2026, Morger received a work-year scholarship from Kulturstiftung Liechtenstein and maintained an extensive programme across Liechtenstein, Switzerland and Germany. The solo exhibition Gathering / Aasammleg at Alter Pfarrhof Balzers placed objects from the local cultural collection beside their own works, while Serving at kunstkasten Winterthur revisited a durational installation built from silver-coloured trays and audience participation. In Good Standing opened at the Liechtenstein Embassy in Bern for a year-long run from 24 March 2026 to 1 March 2027. Their agenda also included Under the Milky Way at Kunstverein Hannover and a September broadcast at Radiophrenia in Glasgow. Across these contexts, Morger turns familiar actions and materials into precise inquiries about belonging, visibility, productivity and shared responsibility.
