Darice Machel McGuire is an American painter based on the island of Maui, where the Pacific Ocean, tropical vegetation and changing light provide the principal subjects for her work. She paints landscapes and seascapes in oil and acrylic, moving between large and small formats and paying close attention to clouds, mountain shadows, beaches, flowers and coastal life. Her portfolio also preserves views of Lahaina and other familiar Hawaiian places, alongside works connected with California and Lake Tahoe.
McGuire grew up inside an art business run by her family. Her mother was her first oil-painting teacher, and the family gallery combined exhibitions, art supplies, framing and classes. This environment gave her practical experience in painting, teaching and presentation from an early age. She later founded Art E Studio in Lahaina, where she taught oil and acrylic painting to children and adults, and she co-authored The Art of Painting in Acrylic. Her online gallery now brings together an extensive catalogue of original images, prints and themed collections, including works documenting Maui before and after the Lahaina fire.
