Endre Koronczi is a Hungarian interdisciplinary artist based in Budapest. Working since the early 1990s, he combines installation, video, photography, drawing, performance and outdoor experimentation. His projects often begin with ordinary phenomena that are difficult to hold or measure, then develop through fictional research, observation and poetic association. Human relationships, everyday situations and emotional states appear alongside questions about nature, perception and the boundary between material and spiritual experience. Koronczi has presented work at major Hungarian institutions including the Ludwig Museum, the Hungarian National Gallery and Kunsthalle Budapest, as well as in international exhibitions. He also teaches at Eszterházy Károly Catholic University.
In 2026, Koronczi represents Hungary at the 61st Venice Biennale with Pneuma Cosmic, presented in the Hungarian Pavilion from 9 May to 22 November. The exhibition extends his long-term Ploubuter Park research into wind and air movement. It brings together video, kinetic installation, found ventilation components, collected sighs and an acoustic environment by composer Máté Balogh. A section titled Trapped Breath incorporates elements removed from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, while other works translate walking, breathing and shifting air into visual or spatial forms. By treating airflow as both a physical force and a metaphor, the project connects individual perception with environmental responsibility, scientific imagination and contemplative experience.
