Godwin’s Goodies- An Internet History

Godwin’s Goodies was conceived as a limited digital-art project exploring the culture, humour and contradictions of the modern Internet. The series brought together a group of artists from different countries to create fifteen original works connected with online history and the transition from Web2 platforms to blockchain-based Web3 culture. Each piece was designed as part of a shared narrative rather than as an isolated collectible, combining visual references, digital folklore and the absurdities that emerge when technology, identity and community meet online.

A central element of the project was deliberate destruction. After an artist completed a physical or digital work, the project staged a different destructive process, leaving the blockchain token as the surviving authenticated version. This method turned scarcity, performance and documentation into part of the artwork itself. The result was intended to question what makes a digital object original, how ownership is recorded and why online communities assign value to images that can otherwise be copied. Although developed within the NFT environment, Godwin’s Goodies is best understood as a collaborative experiment in Internet memory, preservation and the theatrical creation of uniqueness.
