Klaudia Januško

Klaudia Januško is a Hungarian painter and visual artist born in 1998. She received an MFA in painting from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 2024, after studying visual cultures, curating and contemporary art at Aalto University in Finland. Her training also includes residencies and research in Iceland, France and Poland; she is currently enrolled in the Master’s Programme in Fine Art at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts.

Januško works across painting, installation, objects and sound, drawing on video games, horror and action cinema, feminist art and online image culture. Female game characters recur throughout her practice: she keeps their exaggerated, seductive visual language while turning its fetishised representations inside out. Her staged environments explore how bodies and identities are modified, desired and controlled, balancing attraction with dry humour and an undercurrent of violence.

Her solo exhibition Under My Knife runs at the Kassák Museum in Budapest from 10 October 2026 to 7 February 2027. Produced after she won the 2025 Kassák Contemporary Art Prize, it transforms the gallery into an operating theatre where surgical instruments overlap with the object world of games. New works connect cosmetic intervention and character customisation, placing personal agency beside the social and economic systems that shape the female body. The exhibition follows her 2026 solo presentation Served Right at acb Gallery.
