Lucia Tallová is a Slovak visual artist born in Bratislava in 1985, where she lives and works. Her practice moves between painting, collage, photography, assemblage and installation. She frequently combines images taken from old books and magazines with found objects, fragments of furniture and natural materials, arranging them within shelves or stage-like wooden structures. These carefully composed environments transform archival remnants into new narratives rather than treating them as fixed records. Across monochrome paintings, altered photographs and room-sized installations, Tallová explores memory, identity and material culture, alongside ecology, suppressed female histories, loss and utopian thinking. Recurring clouds, landscapes and volcanic forms give her work an atmosphere suspended between personal recollection and geological time.
In November 2025, Deutsche Bank named Tallová its “Artist of the Year” for 2026, recognising a practice centred on paper and photography while extending into spatial installation. The award follows her participation in the 16th Lyon Biennale in 2022 and includes acquisitions, a publication and a solo exhibition. Moving Clouds opens at the PalaisPopulaire in Berlin on 10 September 2026 and continues through the end of the year. Described as her first institutional solo presentation in Western Europe, the exhibition brings together a broad selection of works addressing the fragility of memory within an accelerated digital present.
