Réhahn is a French fine-art photographer based in Hoi An, Vietnam, whose work combines portraiture, documentary practice and cultural research. He is widely associated with intimate portraits in which gesture, expression and the relationship between photographer and subject are more important than spectacle. His long-term projects have taken him through Vietnam and other countries, where he has photographed communities, crafts and traditions while exploring questions of memory, identity and cultural continuity.
He founded the Precious Heritage Art Gallery Museum in Hoi An to present photographs, traditional clothing and stories connected with Vietnam’s ethnic groups. This museum gives a public form to a project developed through years of travel and personal encounters. Alongside this documentary work, Réhahn has created a more impressionistic photographic language based on reflections, movement, colour and natural light. These images blur the boundary between photography and painting while retaining a connection with observed reality. His portfolio therefore moves between cultural testimony and formal experimentation, united by an interest in human presence and by a commitment to presenting the people and traditions behind each image with context and respect.
